HMD Global will be announcing a new Nokia phone later today at an event in London. The company has been pretty consistent in announcing a new Nokia phone every month and it’s safe to say that it has kept its promise of rapidly expanding its portfolio in 2018. Today, HMD could announce the Nokia 7.1, and possibly the 7.1 Plus as well. We have been hearing a lot about these phones over the past few weeks and they are the most likely candidates right now. Following today’s launch, these phones are also expected to make their way to India as HMD has announced an event on October 11.The Nokia 7.1 ranks high in the list of probable announcements. The reason being that we have heard a lot more about this device in recent days compared to the Plus model. Roland Quandt of Winfuture.de posted some key details about the upcoming Nokia 7.1 including some renders as well. The renders show a design similar to the Nokia 6.1 Plus. This means you can expect a notched display on the front and a glass rear panel. The size of the display on the Nokia 7.1 will remain more or less similar to the Nokia 6.1 Plus. This includes a 5.84-inch FHD+ (2246×1080) IPS LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. As per Quandt’s report, the Nokia 7.1 will be powered by a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 636 chipset, which is similar to the Nokia 6.1 Plus. The phone will be offered with 3GB and 4GB of RAM along with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage, respectively.advertisementSo far, the Nokia 7.1 sounds a lot like the Nokia 6.1 Plus. The difference is notably on the back with regards to the dual camera setup. The Nokia 7.1 will bring Zeiss-branded dual cameras, something that was missing on the 6.1 Plus. The 7.1 will get a 12MP + 5MP configuration with HDR+ support. It is still unknown what the sensor for the front camera will be.The Nokia 7.1 is also touted to house a 3,000mAh battery, which is marginally smaller than the Nokia 6.1 Plus. The phone is said to ship with Android 8.1 Oreo and the device will be part of the Android One program. It would be nice to see the Nokia phone ship with Android 9 Pie, however. The phone is tipped to be priced at 350 Euros (approx Rs 29,000) while the top-end variant may be priced just under 400 Euros (approx Rs 33,000). Given how similar the specs sound compared to the Nokia 6.1 Plus, it seems some leaks may be a little off, but we can only know for sure once HMD announces the phone.ALSO READ: Nokia 7.1 specs and price leak a day before the launchThere is also the Nokia 7.1 Plus, which could be announced alongside the Nokia 7.1.
