GUWAHATI, Sep 16: Udalguri girl Bhagyabati Kachari claimed gold medal at the Ahmet Comert Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey. Playing in the light heavyweight category (81kg) Bhagyabati got the better of Selma Karakoyun. She was declared the most scientific boxer of the tournament, and the Indian women’s team finished third.Bhagyabati Kachari was also presented the ‘Best Technical Boxer Award’ of the tournamentAssam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has congratulated Bhagyabati Kachari for her victory.https://twitter.com/sarbanandsonwal/status/1041241508681142274The 26-year-old boxer who hails from Udmari village near Tangla in Udalguri is the daughter of Deben Kachari and Chaitra Kachari. She had previously participated and won a number of medals in national boxing championships along with clinching bronze in Asian Women’s Boxing Championships held in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia way back in 2012.Simranjit Kaur (64kg), Monika (48kg) also won gold medals for India.
