Sports Gear Donations Sought For Bucksport Extravaganza

Instead, put that out-grown, gently used sports gear to work for a good cause.The Bucksport Middle School wants yard-sale-worthy sports gear to benefit the seventh grade Sports Extravaganza on Feb. 11.Donors will get an “early bird” ticket to the event to pick up other sports gear at reasonable prices.Gear donations will be accepted until Friday, Feb. 10, at the Middle School.This is placeholder textThis is placeholder textCall the school in advance (469-6647) during regular school hours to donate items, or call Sue Bernier at 469-1971 to arrange for pick-up or drop-off after school or on weekends.The Sports Gear Extravaganza has already received a large donation of sports gear.Soccer moms, baseball fans, skaters and skiers are encouraged to think about next year and get the gear growing kids will need.The Sports Gear Extravaganza will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Middle School.Money raised by the event will help send RSU 25 seventh-graders to Kieve Leadership School in April.The five-day Leadership School program involves students in activities which encourage goal setting, critical thinking and problem solving.The Kieve Leadership School experience, traditionally attended by Orland students prior to the RSU 25 merger, also helps to build bonds between Orland, Bucksport, Verona, and Prospect students.Call Bernier for more information or to volunteer on the 10th or 11th.For more sports news, pick up a copy of The Ellsworth American.
